Mike Schugt has been named regional vice president - sales and marketing, Southeast and South Central for Hilton Hotels Corporation. Schugt most recently served as managing director of sales for the Hilton Sales Worldwide offices in New York, Boston and Philadelphia.
Schugt is responsible for the sales and marketing operations of Hilton(R) and Doubletree(R) hotels in these regions, which include hotels and resorts in 10 states. He has direct involvement with the hotels to ensure alignment, support, direction and resources for the effective development and implementation of the respective hotel sales and marketing plans, and oversee the regional directors of sales and marketing in these regions. Schugt is based in Orlando, Fla. and reports to G. Steven Armitage, senior vice president - sales of Hilton Hotels Corporation.
A 12-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Schugt began his career with Marriott Hotels in 1988. He later became associate director of sales and marketing with the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in December 1994. In his position as director of sales at the Hilton Atlanta, Schugt was named Hilton`s Hotel Director of Sales Of The Year in 1998.
A native of Pittsburgh, Schugt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel & restaurant management, with a minor in marketing, from Pennsylvania State University in June 1988. He is an active member in trade industry organizations, such as the Professional Convention Management Association and Meeting Professionals International.
