The Hotel del Coronado’s Prince of Wales restaurant was selected as a winner of Wine Spectator’s 2002 Restaurant Wine Award and will be listed in their August 31, 2002 Dining Guide. The Del recently unveiled its new wine cellar, which features selected wineries from around the world. Jason Bernardo, the resort’s Sommelier and Beverage Manager, chooses both renowned vineyards and new up-and-coming boutique wines for The Del’s extensive collection.
“Prince of Wales’ list is a great illustration of our commitment to our wine program,” says Bernardo, who collaborates with Chef Michael Quigley to select wines that compliment the restaurant’s nightly five-course chef’s menu.

San Diego Magazine recently published its “Best of San Diego” lists in the June 2002 edition. The editors named The Del’s Babcock & Story Bar ‘Best Hotel Bar’. The re-design of the resort’s bar was part of The Del’s $55 million restoration project completed less than one year ago. B&S Bar takes advantage of the spectacular seaside setting. The original 46-foot handcrafted mahogany bar, brought around the Cape Horn in 1888, is the centerpiece.
