Destination Hotels & Resorts Ranked 3rd Among The Top 100 Hotel Management Companies In The Country

Destination Hotels & Resorts was recently ranked the third largest hotel management company in Hotel Business magazine’s 2002 Top 100 Management Companies Survey. Formally ranked the sixth largest hotel management company in the country in 2001, Destination Hotels & Resorts manages primarily independent hotels rather than franchised or chain-affiliated hotels. The company’s steady rise from a ranking of 10th in 1997 demonstrates this 29-year-old company’s outstanding growth and success during the past several years.
Destination Hotels & Resorts manages independent, luxury and upscale hotels, resorts and golf clubs around the country, including such well-known destinations as the Hotel del Coronado near San Diego, The Argent Hotel in San Francisco, Royal Palms Hotel and Casitas in Phoenix, AZ and the Monarch Hotel in Washington, DC. Furthermore, DH&R was most recently awarded a management contract for the soon to open newly constructed Teton Mountain Lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Management companies were ranked according to 2001 annual gross revenue. Destination Hotels & Resorts reported $545 million in gross revenue in 2001. Destination Hotels & Resorts was also ranked fourth among the top 15 hotel management companies for RevPAR in 2001, reporting a RevPAR of $114.03 in 2001.

“Destination Hotels & Resorts’ strategy of managing one-of-a-kind, unique destinations with independent identities has translated into exceptional guest experiences and excellent returns for our investors,” said Charlie Peck, president and COO of Destination Hotels & Resorts. “Our corporate philosophy, to rely on our general managers and on-site management teams to make decisions and implement programs, has been the most important factor in our success.”
Destination Hotels & Resorts is excellently positioned to further improve its standing in the hospitality industry,” said Peck. “We will continue to seek opportunities to manage unique destination properties for a variety of investors as we grow our business.”

The Hotel Business Top 100 Management Companies Survey was based on a fax poll of more than 150 management companies that “operate hotels under their own flag or those that own all of their properties outright” and is the largest management company analysis of its kind. The rankings were published in the April 7-20, 2002 issue of Hotel Business magazine.
