Choice Hotels Names Vice President, E-Commerce

SILVER SPRING, Md. (February 13, 2002) - Choice Hotels International, Inc., (NYSE:CHH) today announced the appointment of Mary Beth Knight as vice president, e-commerce, effective February 25.


In her new role, she will be responsible for the company`s global e-commerce strategies, applications, implementations and distributions. She joins Choice from Best Western International, where she served as vice president, e-commerce. She will be based at the company`s western regional headquarters in Phoenix.


“Mary Beth Knight brings an outstanding reputation as one of our industry`s accomplished leaders in e-commerce, sales and marketing,” said Wayne Wielgus, senior vice president of marketing. “She has achieved notable success in using and integrating technology to increase market share and develop innovative strategies.”


At Best Western, Knight developed the company`s Web site and expanded the company`s electronic distribution channels to build a global image and enhance profitability for Best Western members.


In addition to her Best Western experience, she also held marketing and sales positions with Doubletree Hotels, Ramada International and Servico Management Corporation during her more than 20 years in the hospitality industry. She is a 1980 graduate of Columbia College, with a degree in travel industry management.
