Choice Appoints Gregory A. Bublitz Vice President-Finance

SILVER SPRING, Md.  (April 12, 2000) - Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE:CHH) announced the appointment of Gregory A. Bublitz as Vice President-Finance, effective immediately.

In his new position, Bublitz will be responsible for the accounting, financial planning and reporting functions of Choice`s corporate and western region headquarters.  Additionally, Bublitz will oversee information services and purchasing in the Silver Spring headquarters.

“Greg has a proven ability to implement strategic initiatives while generating profitable results.” said Joseph M. Squeri, senior vice president and chief financial officer, “His diverse background will contribute to the successful execution of Choice`s new strategic plan.”

Prior to joining Choice, Bublitz served as vice president and chief financial officer for Wise Metals Company, a $750 million privately-held aluminum trading company.  He also held key finance, marketing and administration positions with Alumax Primary Aluminum Corporation.

A graduate of Western Illinois University with a degree in accounting, Bublitz also holds a master`s degree in international business from DePaul University and is a CPA.
