Choice Hotels Appoints Mark Pearce Vice President Internation Sales And Marketing

SILVER SPRING, Md. (May 11, 2000) - Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE:CHH) has appointed Mark Pearce to the position of vice president of international sales and marketing. Pearce will be based at Choice`s Silver Spring, MD headquarters.


In his new position, Pearce will be responsible for the development and implementation of marketing programs for Comfort, Quality, Clarion and Sleep hotels outside the United States. This will include directing the activity of Choice sales staff in Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Frankfurt, London, and Fort Lauderdale. Pearce will also lead the worldwide sales and marketing committee, a group of regional Choice master franchisees that promote cross selling and marketing within the Choice system and develop global standards for international properties.


A 17-year veteran of the travel industry, Pearce spent the past six years as vice president of sales and marketing for Choice Hotels Canada where he launched the Choice Hotels Canada web site and the successful Canadian Guest Loyalty program, Choice Club.


“Mark has a proven ability to successfully develop and implement programs, ” said Bruno Geny, senior vice president, international. “In his new role, I am confident that he will continue to contribute to the global success of Choice.”


In his new role, Pearce will report directly to Geny.

Prior to joining Choice, Pearce held sales & marketing positions with Go Vacations and Budget Rent a Car.
