Choice Hotels International Inc. (NYSE:CHH) has announced aggressive plans to develop the Comfort, Quality, Clarion and Sleep Inn hotel brands throughout the Caribbean region.

Development plans for the Caribbean call for the opening of 25 hotels within the next four years. Targeted locations will include islands where Choice does not yet have a concentrated presence, such as the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Trinidad, St. Croix, Antigua, St. Maarten and Barbados. Already open in the Caribbean are Choice brand hotels in the Bahamas, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, Curacao and Turks & Caicos.

To begin this effort, Choice has purchased from its former master franchisee for the Caribbean, Quality Divisional Management Inc., all existing franchise contracts. Quality Divisional Management executives, Christopher Sharpless, and Christopher Sharpless, Jr., will join Choice as a consultant and as franchise service director for the Caribbean region, to perform development and franchise duties.
