Choice Hotels International Promotes Joseph M. Squeri To Vice President, Treasurer And Controller

The board of directors of Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH), the world`s second largest hotel franchising company, recently promoted Joseph M. Squeri to vice president, treasurer and controller.
Squeri, 32, has served as vice president and controller since he joined Choice in February of 1997.  Since joining Choice, Squeri has led the finance organization in addressing the increasingly complex staffing and technical needs of the company after it was spun off from Manor Care, Inc., and became public in the fall of 1996.


“Joe is one of the bright, young members of our management team and we are very pleased the Board of Directors has also given him theirconfidence,” said Don Dempsey, Choice`s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.


Additionally, since the Company`s spinoff from Sunburst Hospitality, last fall, Squeri has managed the treasury operations of Choice.


Among other accomplishments, Squeri was instrumental in executing the company`s spinoff from Sunburst Hospitality, managing the company`s recently announced $100 million investment grade senior note offering, implementing new financial reporting systems, and identifying and driving productivity and profit-improvement initiatives.


Prior to joining Choice, Squeri spent two and a half years with The Carlyle Group, a merchant banking firm in Washington, D.C.  He also worked for Arthur Andersen for seven years.  Squeri received a degree in accounting from the University of Virginia and is a Certified Public Accountant.
