A grand-opening celebration was held today for the new Clarion Suites here at 325 West 8th Ave.
The 111-suite hotel, owned and operated by The Steel Group, L.L.C. of Anchorage, is expected to attract corporate, government and leisure travelers visiting Anchorage and surrounding areas.

All suites at the Clarion Suites hotel feature two rooms; work desks; sleeper sofas; microwaves; refrigerators; coffee makers; two televisions featuring Internet access; and two telephones with data ports and voice mail.

Hotel features include a business center, exercise room and indoor swimming pool with whirlpool.  The hotel also features The Glacier Room, a 900 square-foot meeting room, and a Choice Picks Food Court featuring Pizzeria Uno`s, Nathan`s Famous, Big Apple Bagels and other choices.

Rates range from $99 to $265, which includes complimentary USA Today newspaper.  Special rates are available on a space-available basis when booked in advance for business travelers, senior citizens, members of the American Automobile Association, tour operators and government and military personnel.

Children age 18 and under may stay free in the rooms of their parents or grandparents.  Additional bedding is extra.

The new Clarion Suites hotel is located near the 5th Avenue Mall, the Anchorage Federal Building, the Egan Civic and Convention Center and the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.
