Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH) has named John C. Hawkins vice president of corporate communications and William Carlson vice president of research and market information.
Hawkins is responsible for the company`s internal and external communications functions, as well as financial communications and community relations. Prior to joining Choice, Hawkins was senior vice president of the The Hawthorn Group, L.C. , an Alexandria,Va.-based public affairs firm. Previously, he served in a variety of communication positions for leading corporations including Aetna Life & Casualty, the DuPont Company, Gulf Oil Corp. and Promus Hotel Corporation, where he was director of corporate communications. At Promus, Hawkins was responsible for organizing and developing the company`s communications functions following its spin-off from Harrah`s Entertainment.
Carlson is responsible for overseeing, conducting and interpreting consumer and industry market research for Choice. Carlson also comes to Choice from Promus Hotel Corp., most recently serving as senior director, market information and planning where he was responsible for conducting and interpreting industry analysis. Previously, he was with Atlanta-based Holiday Inns for 14 years, serving in a variety of market/research analysis positions.
