Construction Under Way For Second Minnesota Candlewood Suites

Construction on Minnesota’s second Candlewood Suites has begun in Plymouth, Minn. The new hotel—set to open in late spring 2002—is owned by Equus-Plymouth, LLC under a license agreement with Candlewood Hotel Co., of Wichita, Kan. Equus Capital Management, of Scottsdale, Ariz., will manage the hotel. Tech Builders, of Fairmont, Minn., is building the hotel.
The project is valued at about $6.5 million. The new hotel is located at the southwest corner of state highways 55 and 169, just six miles from downtown Minneapolis.
Candlewood Suites offers larger-than-average guest suites that are perfectly suited for business travelers and loaded with amenities. The new hotel will feature 89 suites: 65 studios and 24 one-bedrooms. Each suite includes a complete kitchen, comfortable recliner, 25-inch television, large business desk, adjustable executive chair, and two phone lines including data port. Amenities include free local phone calls and incoming faxes, free laundry facilities, low-cost long distance, 25-cent soft drinks, free video and CD checkouts and an upscale exercise room. Guests can buy food items, snacks and sundries 24-hours-a-day from the Candlewood Cupboard, an on-site, honor-based pantry where items are value-priced.
