Park Place Entertainment Corp. Appoints Mike Leonard To Vice President Of Marketing

Park Place Entertainment Corp. (NYSE: PPE) announced today the appointment of Mike Leonard to vice president of marketing.
Leonard will oversee the company`s marketing efforts at Park Place Entertainment`s 17 properties throughout the world. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Leonard will assist in property-level initiatives in advertising, database marketing and market research.


Leonard currently serves, on an interim basis, as vice president of marketing at the Las Vegas Hilton pending the recruitment of a new executive to fill this role.


Previously, Leonard was director of marketing at Luxor and Circus Circus. He also worked for Harrah`s for 12 years playing a leadership role in the company`s Las Vegas growth initiatives in marketing, entertainment and retail operations.


Leonard earned his bachelor`s degree in business administration, with honors, from the University of California, Berkeley and a master`s degree in business from the University of California, Los Angeles Graduate School of Management.


Park Place Entertainment is the world`s largest gaming company, as measured by casino square footage and revenues, and is the only casino gaming company with a leading presence in Nevada, New Jersey and Mississippi ? the three largest gaming markets in the United States. In 1999, the Company will own or have an interest in 17 gaming properties located throughout the United States and in Australia and Uruguay, with a total of 1.4 million square feet of gaming space and approximately 23,000 hotel rooms.

In April of 1999, the Company entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the Caesars and Sheraton gaming assets of Starwood Hotels and Resorts. The transaction is scheduled to close in the fourth quarter of 1999, pending regulatory approval.
