Park Place Entertainment Announces Executive Promotions

Park Place Entertainment Corporation (NYSE:PPE) announced today the promotions of Rhett Long and William Wright effective August 1, 1999.
Rhett Long will take on general manager responsibilities for the Reno Hilton where he is currently senior vice president-hotel operations. Long, a 19-year veteran of the hospitality industry, has been with the property since 1997.


At the Flamingo Hilton Reno, William Wright will be promoted to senior vice president-general manager. Wright, who has been with the Company since 1987, was previously vice president-hotel operations at the Flamingo and also served in various executive and managerial positions at the Reno Hilton and Flamingo Hilton Las Vegas.


Both Long and Wright will report to Mark Dodson, executive vice president of Park Place Entertainment.


The Reno Hilton, Flamingo Hilton Reno and Flamingo Hilton Las Vegas are owned and operated by Park Place Entertainment. Following the September opening of Paris Las Vegas, the Company will own or have an interest in 17 gaming properties located throughout the United States and in Australia and Uruguay, with a total of 1.4 million square feet of gaming space and approximately 23,500 hotel rooms.


In April, Park Place Entertainment entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Caesars and other gaming assets of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. The transaction is scheduled to close in the fourth quarter of 1999, pending regulatory approval.
