Days Inn Announces PBA Sponsorship

Days Inns Worldwide has announced a sponsorship with the Professional Bowlers Association for its PBA Tour and PBA Senior Tour designed to increase Days Inn® brand awareness and exposure.

The three-year sponsorship, developed with the assistance of Strike Ten Entertainment, will run through the 2004-2005 season and allow the Days Inn brand to have title sponsorship for the PBA Days Inn Open in Dallas, Feb. 5-9, 2003; promotional mentions on ESPN and ESPN2 during the week prior to the event; exclusivity for hotel and lodging accommodations; commercials on all 20 PBA Tour telecasts; event signage; presence on PBA.com; and use of PBA Tour player likenesses in promotional materials. In addition, the brand will get exposure on the PBA Senior Tour, where all players will wear Days Inn shirt patches.

“We are excited about our new relationship with the PBA and are confident that this sponsorship will provide the Days Inn brand with an excellent opportunity to showcase our brand value proposition to a wider audience of consumers,” said Joe Kane, Days Inn president & chief executive officer. “Our objective is to increase brand awareness and drive room nights to our more than 1,900 properties.”

The PBA will begin its U.S. portion of the 2002-2003 season on Oct. 9 in Wichita, Kan. Last season the PBA scored an 18 percent increase in ratings for its ESPN telecasts, a 20 percent increase in membership, increased unique visitors and page views on PBA.com and a 35 percent increase in tournament entries. Other recent sponsor additions include Banquet Foods, Odor-Eaters and VIA Bowling. For more information on the PBA, log on to www.pba.com.

“The PBA couldn`t be happier with our new sponsorship with the Days Inn team and their commitment to the bowling community,” said Steve Miller, PBA president & chief executive officer.
