Boykin Lodging Company (NYSE: BOY), a hotel real estate investment trust with a portfolio of 32 full-service hotels, announced today the promotion of John Spear to Vice President and Controller.

Since joining Boykin Lodging in 1997 as Controller, Mr. Spear has played an integral role in Boykin`s growth and has made significant contributions to Boykin`s debt and equity financing activities.

Prior to joining Boykin, Mr. Spear was a manager in the Cleveland office of Arthur Andersen LLP`s Enterprise Group. He received his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Boykin Lodging Company is a real estate investment trust, which focuses on the acquisition of full-service, upscale commercial and resort hotels.
