ResortQuest International, Inc. (NYSE: RZT), the first brand name and online booking service (ResortQuest.com) in vacation condominium and home rentals, sales and property management services, today announced the appointment of James Olin as chief operating officer.
In his new position, Olin will be responsible for overseeing the company`s 27 vacation rental and real estate companies across North America, as well as further integrating and enhancing the company`s operations.
Olin previously was president of ResortQuest`s Abbott Resorts, based in Destin, Fla., and also served as regional vice president for ResortQuest`s Gulf Coast Region, covering 14 resort areas in Florida and along the Gulf Coast. Olin assumes the role of chief operating officer vacated by David L. Levine, ResortQuest president, who recently was also named chief executive officer.
“With our emphasis on internal growth, Jim`s impressive management record over the last decade makes him the ideal leader to help take the ResortQuest brand to the next level,” Levine said. “During the past year, Jim effectively wore two hats—as president of our largest property management company and manager of our largest region. With this kind of experience, he brings added depth to our senior management team.”
Olin has 12 years of experience in travel and tourism. As president of Abbott Resorts since 1992, Olin engineered the company`s growth from 900 units to more than 2,500 units, and real estate sales, from $35 million to $250 million. Prior to joining Abbott Resorts, he served in various capacities within the tourism and economic development fields in Florida, beginning with the Florida Department of Commerce. Olin will be relocating to Memphis immediately.
“Jim will play a major role as we begin to look at all facets of our operations and explore new ways to drive internal growth,” Levine added. “His local and regional management operating perspective will be an invaluable asset during both the planning and execution processes.”
Olin received his bachelor`s degree from Florida International University in Miami and his master`s degree from Florida State in Tallahassee. He is a member of the national Vacation Rental Manager`s Association and a founding board member of the Florida Vacation Rental Manager`s Association.
