The American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AH&LA) Information Center recently transferred its archival materials, vertical files, and book collection to the University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management located in Houston, Texas. Initiated in 1988, the department addresses questions and research requests about the travel and tourism industry.
With the primary function of collecting and offering information, the Information Center contains an extensive filing system of 70,000 current articles on 2,500 topics, library of 3,000 books, and subscriptions to a number of magazines and newsletters. With receipt of these materials, the university will continue to conduct research requests and track industry news. This service also will remain a complimentary service to members as part of their association benefits.
“This is an enormous and instrumental move for our association and affiliates. However, with the University of Houston establishing itself as one of the top educational institutes to address hospitality-related questions and issues, we are confident that this change will be a smooth transition for everyone involved,” said AH&LA President and CEO Joseph A. McInerney, CHA.
