Conference Center Specialist Named General Manager of Doubletree Hotel

Veteran hospitality professional Tom Thomas, a specialist in award-winning and innovative conference resort developments, has been named general manager of the 404-room Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center—Plano Legacy Town Center in Texas. The property, which opened in the Spring of 2001, is one of Doubletree`s premier executive meeting centers among its portfolio of 175 hotels and resorts across North America and Latin America.
Thomas most recently served as assistant general manager/director of marketing of the Pinnacle Award winning Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center. He has launched and operated many successful conference hotel properties across the United States, including the Lansdowne Conference Resort near Washington, D.C., The Woodlands Executive Conference Center and Resort near Houston and the Marietta Conference Resort in Marietta, Georgia. His numerous career accomplishments led to his selection to help launch Chateau Elan, Marriott Hotel Corporation`s first full service conference resort.
Thomas has held key management positions with Hilton Hotels Corporation, Dolce International, Sentry Hospitality, Benchmark Hospitality and Club Corporation of America. Additional experience includes the Resort at Squaw Creek in Lake Tahoe, California and the Seasons Resort in New Jersey. He holds a B.A. in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management from Michigan State University.
As General Manager of Doubletree Hotel & Executive Conference Center—Plano Legacy Town Center, Thomas will be responsible for directing the overall management and operation of one of only three hotels in the North Texas area to have met the stringent standards and earned the prestigious certification of the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC). In addition to its 404 guest rooms, which includes 40 suites, the facility provides the latest in state-of-the-art meeting and conference facilities, all within a luxurious, campus-like setting.
