Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) announced today that the 269-suite Residence Inn - Center City Philadelphia is scheduled to open this July in Philadelphia, Pa. Located at One East Penn Square, the property will be owned by Granite Penn Square LLC of New York, N.Y., and managed by Marriott International of Washington, D.C.
The 25-story Residence Inn - Center City Philadelphia is the final piece in the redevelopment of the Penn Square buildings surrounding City Hall. Formerly the Market Street National Bank, the historic building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been painstakingly restored to preserve its original architectural charm. The exterior features classic art deco tiles, and the lobby, with marble floors and cherry wood accents, is decorated with black and white photos and features ornate elevator fronts, and an atrium that showcases a second floor hearth room and grand staircase. Suites are tastefully decorated in a rich midnight blue softened with golden yellow tones and many feature spectacular views of the city and the Delaware River.
Designed for an extended stay of five nights or more, each suite at the Residence Inn has a fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker, microwave oven and full-sized appliances. The hotel also offers a fitness center and an indoor pool - one of only five in downtown Philadelphia. A complimentary hot breakfast buffet is served daily, and light dinner is offered Monday through Wednesday with a dessert reception on Thursday.
