The Econo Lodge Hotel here at 8702 South Hosmer Street is now open.

Formerly known as the Tacoma Express Inn, the hotel underwent several renovations to convert to an Econo Lodge hotel. Renovations included new carpet, paint, wall coverings, lighting, furniture and in-room amenities including microwaves and refrigerators.
The two-story hotel, owned and operated by Rupinder Johal and Hardev Johal of Tacoma, Wash. features 142 rooms. Room amenities include remote-control cable television and computer data ports. Some rooms also feature a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, desk and hairdryer.
The Econo Lodge hotel also features rooms specifically designed for seniors with brighter lighting; large-button telephones and television remote controls; lever handles on doors and faucets; alarm clocks with large, easy-to-read numbers; in-room brochures with large print; coffee makers; and grab bars in the bath and either shower massages or hand-held shower heads.
Hotel features include an outdoor pool and guest laundry services.
The Econo Lodge hotel is centrally located to many attractions and businesses including the Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma Dome, Point Defiances Zoo and the University of Puget Sound.
Rates begin at $69 and include a complimentary continental breakfast.
Discounts are available for seniors, American Automobile Association members, government and military personnel, business travelers and groups.
