Wyndham`s `Women On Their Way`

DALLAS (July 11, 2002) - Through its award-winning WOMEN ON THEIR WAY® program, Wyndham International has announced a new, nationwide scholarship/internship program to help women achieve their career goals and advance in the hospitality industry. Wyndham developed the program in conjunction with its longtime partner, Business and Professional Women/USA (BPW/USA), to provide an opportunity for women to obtain both hospitality-related experience and monetary resources for higher education.

Three finalists will be awarded $5,000 and a three to 12 month paid internship at the Wyndham property that best fits their lifestyle, with responsibilities reflecting their area of concentration. In order to give back to the general community, as well as the company, one Wyndham employee who meets the same criteria will also be granted a $5,000 scholarship to use toward higher education. To ensure all eligible women are aware of the program, Wyndham`s Corporate Staffing and Talent Acquisition department is contacting hospitality schools throughout the country to notify them of the opportunity.

“Wyndham`s commitment to women goes beyond their travel needs - we believe it`s important to support them in every way possible,” said Cary Broussard, vice president of Wyndham`s WOMEN ON THEIR WAY program. “This scholarship and internship is just one example of how WOMEN ON THEIR WAY demonstrates Wyndham`s dedication to helping women at all levels realize their goals and dreams, from start to finish.”

Applications are now available online at www.womenontheirway.com or www.bpwusa.org, as well as by calling BPW/USA`s Scholarship Hotline at (202) 293-1100, extension 169. Applicants for the Business and Professional Women/USA Scholarship must be at least 25 years of age; demonstrate career plans and critical need for financial assistance; be officially accepted into an accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands and graduate within 12 to 24 months from the date of the scholarship. Deadline for entry is Oct. 1, 2002.
Both Wyndham and BPW/USA representatives will choose the scholarship recipients. Candidates best illustrating the criteria will be selected and notified of their award via a ‘Congratulations Phone Call` from both Wyndham and BPW/USA representatives on Nov. 30, 2002.

“BPW/USA has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Wyndham, a company that has proven its allegiance to women time and time again,” said Jane Smith, chief executive officer of Business and Professional Women/USA. “Wyndham`s continued commitment to women and focus on work/life balance speaks to what`s important to our members, and more importantly, echoes the feelings of women nationwide.”
