Hilton Executive Tower Opens in Portland, Oregon
PORTLAND, Ore.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—June, 2002—It has been a number of years, if ever, that business travelers found themselves checking in at the corner of Southwest 5th & Taylor in Portland. But the opening of the newly constructed 327-room Hilton Portland Executive Tower in late June will welcome business executives, managers and conventioneers on the former site of the Greyhound Bus Depot.
Located at 545 SW Taylor Street in the heart of downtown Portland, the Hilton Portland Executive Tower was developed by Melvin Mark Development Company, designed by locally based Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership and is owned by Hilton Hotels Corporation.
“The development of an Executive Tower in Portland is an exciting opportunity for Hilton,” said Brad Hutton, area vice president and hotel general manager. “We look forward to capturing a greater share of inbound business travelers by serving as the largest convention hotel in the state.”
All hotel guestrooms and suites feature high-speed Internet access, a coffee maker with complimentary coffee, mini bars, two dual-line telephones with voicemail and dataports, a large work desk with desk-level outlets, iron & ironing board, a hairdryer, two robes, electronic locks, Internet access via television, pay-per-view movies, video games and free HBO.
The Executive Tower specifically caters to the needs of business executives visiting Portland and the surrounding Pacific Northwest by offering a unique selection of 31 “Business King” guestrooms. Leather recliners, Suite Dreams(TM) by Hilton luxury beds, executive-sized desks and the most modern technology—including high-speed Internet access and an in-room printer/copier/scanner/fax—combine to provide the utmost in comfort and efficiency.

With a full bar and lounge featuring an extensive list of wines, beers and spirits, the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily with late-night dining welcome.
The addition of the Executive Tower combines with the existing Hilton Portland to create the largest convention hotel in the state of Oregon for a total of 66,000 square feet of flexible meeting facilities and 783 guestrooms.
Large-scale conventions including the Society for the Preservation & Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance 2002 Softball World Series (NAGAAA) are already booked as some of the tower`s initial guests.
A grand opening fundraising gala to dedicate the Executive Tower is planned for late September, which will benefit United Way of the Columbia-Willamette.
