Marriott International Named to List of Top 50 Companies for Minorities

WASHINGTON, D.C. - June 26, 2002 - For the fifth year in a row, Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) has been named to Fortune magazine’s list of top 50 companies for minorities, according to the July 8 issue. The only hospitality company recognized for five consecutive years, Marriott was sixth among companies with more than 100,000 employees.

Brendan Keegan, Marriott’s executive vice president for human resources, said the company was proud of the progress it continues to make in expanding diversity. “I am particularly pleased that as a service-based company with a large workforce, Marriott was cited by Fortune for our success in building significant opportunities for advancement into the management level.”

In addition to being named to Fortune’s list of best companies for minorities, Marriott has also been recognized this year as one of Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” and “Most Admired Companies in America.” In addition, Marriott received the prestigious 2002 Catalyst Award for its demonstrated success in advancing women’s leadership in the workplace.
