FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—- Richard Waters, a highly respected gaming industry executive who, in 1999 was named Gaming Professional of the Year by the Casino Management Association, has been named Senior Vice President, Casino Operations and Marketing for Sun International Resorts, Inc. Paul O`Neil, Sun International`s chief executive officer, made the announcement.
Richard Waters has an outstanding reputation as a leader in the gaming industry and we are extremely pleased that he has agreed to join the Sun International team. We look forward to the benefits of his creativity, experience and commitment, O`Neil said.
Prior to joining Sun International, Waters was vice president, casino marketing at The Aladdin in Las Vegas, where he was responsible for all international and domestic casino marketing and table game operations. Before that he was senior vice president, casino operations for Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. There he managed a staff of 1,200 employees and participated in international and national customer development initiatives, in addition to overseeing long range planning and formulating casino policies. He also directed operations of table games, slots, race and sports books, keno, casino services, direct marketing, casino special events, slot clubs and the Caesars Club of Manila.
A graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Waters also held executive positions at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel, Desert Inn Hotel & Casino, Major Riddle Enterprises and United Gaming, Inc. Earlier in his career, he was an agent with the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
