Marriott Announces Spring and Summer Golf Packages

Golf season is in full swing, and Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) is offering great vacation packages that provide golfers of all levels with the opportunity to play some of the most coveted courses. Marriott’s golf resorts offer full-service lodging, attentive service, handsomely stocked pro shops and world-class courses designed by the likes of Arthur Hills, Donald Ross and Ted Robinson. Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa - Indian Wells, Calif. - Unlimited Golf Package ($129-$199): Includes overnight accommodations in a resort-view room, golf for two with unlimited play (first tee time is guaranteed, subsequent tee times based on availability), range balls and cart fees (ask for rate code GLFD)*. Available June 1 - Aug. 31, 2002. Choose between two 18-hole, Ted Robinson-designed championship courses at the Golf Resort at Indian Wells. Both the East and West courses feature lush greens, rolling fairways, pristine lakes, natural desert landscaping and breathtaking views of the surrounding Santa Rosa mountains. Available Apr. 4 - Nov. 23, 2002. Located in the heart of Bluegrass horse country, the par-72, 6,830-yard Griffin Gate Course was designed by Rees Jones, son of revered architect Robert Trent Jones. Host to the Senior PGA Tour and Bank One Classic, this fast track is sculpted from the surrounding hills and is challenge for both beginners and professionals. There are very few flat putts, and gaping bunkers guard every green. Water is in play on 12 of 18 holes.

With two exceptional 18-hole championship courses set against the ever-changing background of the Santa Rosa Mountains, Marriott’s Desert Springs is a golfer’s delight. Both the Palm and Valley courses were designed by acclaimed architect Ted Robinson, known as the “King of Waterscapes.” The par-72, 6,627-yard Valley Course features classic Robinson design elements with effective water usage, palm tree-framed, multi-tiered greens and undulating fairways. It was nominated by Golf Digest magazine as best new resort course in 1988. The par-72, 6,761-yard Palm Course, also nominated by Golf Digest magazine as best new resort course, winds around the resort`s waterways and through the vacation villas. The signature #17 is a 160-yard, par-three completely surrounded by water and accessible only by a footbridge. One of the best kept secrets in the southwest, Marriott`s Mountain Shadows Golf Club is a par-57, 3,081-yard executive course rated among the top ten executive courses in the United States. Camelback Mountain provides a scenic backdrop to 16 par-three and two par-four holes that challenge golfers to use every club in their bag. The Bay Course, which was constructed by renowned Scottish designer Donald Ross, just completed renovations in March 2002 that restored it to its original 1914 design. This par-71, 6247-yard, links-style layout hugs Reeds Bay and offers challenging greens with skyline views of Atlantic City. The Seaview Marriott’s second course, the Pines Course, offers a more traditional design with narrow fairways and well-protected landing areas. Available Apr. 22 -Sept. 5, 2002. Marriott’s Grand Hotel is situated on 550 acres on scenic Mobile Bay and offers 36 holes of championship golf. The Dogwood and Azalea courses are aptly named, with towering trees and colorful shrubs defining every tee box and fairway. Majestic magnolias and historic oaks draped in Spanish moss define the course, and highlights include the 18th tee on Dogwood which is adjacent to a Civil War cemetery, and the signature #14 on Azalea, a 521-yard, par-five that requires an approach shot to a picturesque island green. Great golf awaits at the Renaissance Vinoy. The hotel’s private par-72, 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Ron Garl and is located within a bird sanctuary and wetlands.
