First Courtyard in the Netherlands

WASHINGTON - April 9, 2002 - Marriott International (NYSE: MAR) announced the opening of the first Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Amsterdam under a franchise agreement with Mr. Leo Claus and Mr. Rick Claus. This is the 29th Courtyard in Europe.

Benno Busscher is the general manager of the 120-room Courtyard by Marriott Amsterdam Airport.

The hotel’s corporate rate is 180 euros (including VAT) and the weekend rate is 135 euros. The weekend rate includes VAT and breakfast.

Located 10 minutes from Schiphol International Airport in Hoofddorp, the hotel is near one of the Netherlands largest business areas and many of Amsterdam’s tourist attractions such as the Keukenhof, Amsterdam City Center, Haarlem and the beach.


The rooms feature air-conditioning, bath with separate shower, complete workplace, two-line telephones, hair-dryer, cable TV with news channels and in-room movies and safe. Non-smoking rooms and rooms for disabled people are available. Other amenities at the hotel include a gym, sauna, airport shuttle, parking lot for cars and buses, 24-hour food and drink shop, laundry service, express check in/check out and business facilities.

For dining and entertainment, the Courtyard by Marriott Amsterdam Airport has a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, the Claus PartyWorld entertainment center next to the hotel features restaurants, bars and a bowling alley.

Meeting rooms in various sizes are available for conferences and seminars.
