ASTA Suppliers Show Their Support For Agents, Post Opportunities on ASTA WebExchange

Alexandria, Va., April 1, 2002 - In one week, 84 supplier members of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) responded to a request by the Society to show their support for travel agents by posting special offers and ongoing commission information on ASTA`s WebExchange. Currently 106 business opportunities for ASTA agents are posted on the business-to-business exchange service.

“This is exactly the kind of response we hoped for when we called on our Allied members to support ASTA agents,” said Richard M. Copland, CTC, ASTA president and CEO. “At a time when a lot of agents are thinking hard about how to go forward with their businesses, we are thrilled that these suppliers stepped forward to show that they understand and appreciate the important role agents play in distributing their products and services.”

“I always tell agents, `book suppliers that are good for your customers AND your business,`” continued Copland. “And these suppliers are showing where they stand.”

ASTA`s WebExchange is a business-to-business service on ASTA`s Web site ( that allows ASTA members worldwide to exchange information about business opportunities and special requests instantaneously and at their own convenience.
