Marriot Teams Up For Essay Contest

New Delhi: To commemorate its 75th corporate anniversary year, Marriott International (NYSE:MAR), in association with the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, has announced an Essay Competition for students of the Hotel Management and Catering Technology Institutes in India. The competition commences from March 14th with the final date for receiving entries is March 29th, 2002.
Marriott International will award cash prizes to the two best entries. The first prize is a cash award of Rs. 12,000/- and the consolation prize carries a cash award of Rs. 8,000/-. Besides, the writer of the best essay will get an all expenses paid trip to Mumbai to attend a prize giving ceremony at the newly opened JW Marriott Hotel, Mumbai.

The panel of judges will be comprised of Mr. Narinder Singh Bhuie - Director Studies and Mr. Taidip Shankar - Asst. Director of Studies of the National Council For Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Mr. Kent Maury - Vice President Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific Region, and Mr. Ed Hubbernette, Vice President, Asia and Prof. Kapil Kumar of IGNOU as the Chairman.
Students can select from among the following four topics: Spirit to Serve in the hospitality/Industry
Technology in the hospitality industry/Success is never final/Tourism & Hospitality - how they co-relate and co-exist


Being a global player with almost 2,500 hotels in 65 countries, the assessment criteria will be in line with the corporate philosophy of Marriott International and will focus on innovative approach as well as a global outlook, clarity of language, originality and research
