Six Continents PLC Pledges £150,000 To New Charitable Partner

Leading hospitality group Six Continents PLC confirmed today that it has
adopted Victim Support as its new national charitable partner in the UK as
part of a long-term commitment to return a percentage of its profits back to
the communities in which it operates.

Six Continents, which operates over 3,200 hotels across nearly 100 countries
and territories and over 2,000 restaurants and bars in the UK and Germany,
will donate £150,000 over the next three years.

Mark Rigby, director of corporate affairs for Six Continents PLC, said: “We
feel it is important for us to put funds back into local causes that reflect
the concerns of our staff, our guests and the organisations with whom we
work. We already put more than £1 million per year towards charitable causes
globally and I know I speak on behalf of Six Continents` employees when I
say we are delighted to be working with such a worthwhile charity.”

Six Continents` donations to its new UK charity, Victim Support, will be
based on employee events, fund-raising and customer involvement as well as
an initial company donation. Funds raised will go towards two vital new
projects that will have a direct impact on local communities. The first of
these will ensure that volunteers receive specialised training in how to
support people affected by serious crimes such as murder, domestic violence
and sexual assault. The second project will involve research and development
work into child victims of crime, whose special needs are still sadly often
overlooked.

Commenting on the new partnership, Ken Madine, head of fundraising and
marketing at Victim Support said: “We are delighted to be working with Six
Continents PLC and are developing an innovative programme of traditional
fundraising initiatives combined with customer and employee support. This
will enable both our organisations to deliver valuable benefits to local
communities across the country.”

The charity was selected after stakeholder interviews and feedback. Six
Continents PLC worked with consultative services group Business in the
Community to select a shortlist of appropriate charities that would fit well
with the business and its values.

Six Continents is a leading global hospitality group with over 3,200 hotels
across nearly 100 countries and territories and over 2,000 restaurants and
bars in the UK and Germany.
