For the sixth consecutive year, Travelocity

has been named the “World`s Leading Travel Internet Site” at the 9th Annual World Travel Awards ceremonies.
More than 500,000 travel agents around the world recognized Travelocity with this honor.

“Being named as the world leader in Internet travel by the World Travel Awards every year since 1997 further solidifies Travelocity`s leadership role in the burgeoning online travel industry,” said Sam Gilliland

, president and chief executive officer of Travelocity. “Widespread, multi-year recognition among industry peers as a leader holds additional significance, and we`re very honored.”

The World Travel Awards ceremony celebrated the leaders in categories including the world`s leading computer reservation system, airline, in-flight entertainment, destination and credit card, in addition to acknowledgement of industry leaders within the regions across the globe.

The World Travel Awards is the world`s most comprehensive travel awards program with trophies awarded in all areas of the industry. Voting is solicited from travel agents in more than 200 countries around the world. Regional geographical categories are broken down from the Whole World category into eight smaller areas.

The World Travel Awards

were set up in 1993 to celebrate excellence in the world`s travel and tourism industry. In the years since then, dedicated travel professionals and their clients have come to regard the World Travel Awards as the best endorsement that any travel product could receive.
