Northwest Airlines Makes its Award-Winning Web Site Faster and Easier to Use

Northwest Airlines has made several enhancements to its web site,, that allow customers to more quickly make online reservations, purchase tickets, and access personal profile information. Additionally, Northwest becomes the first airline to offer a “quick trip” search by low price or schedule, access to flight/gate departure and arrival information, and access to customer frequent flyer accounts, all from the home page.

“These enhancements are based on customer feedback and are part of an ongoing process to provide the best and fastest travel planning services to our customers,” said Al Lenza, vice president - distribution planning. “Moving the most common customer demanded functionality to the home page has been high on their list of preferred features.”

Northwest introduced an upgraded booking facility, reducing the number of steps in the booking process, allowing customers to obtain reservations and purchase tickets faster. For example, if a passenger flies regularly from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Chicago, he/she can now save a particular itinerary and revise only the dates, instead of going through multiple steps.

Obtaining a refund online is also easy. Northwest E-Ticket customers simply enter their E-Ticket number and Northwest will automatically calculate the refund on the unused portion of the E-Ticket and credit the charge card used to purchase it.
