Sabre simplifies car hire with new ‘Geosearch’ feature

Sabre today introduced a new search feature that makes it easier for travel agents to find the closest car hire location to a given city centre, airport, point of interest or street address.

The Cars Geosearch tool identifies car hire locations for all rental providers within a 10-mile (16 kilometre) radius from the search point.  Agents can customise their search by changing the distance default, by including or excluding specific car vendors, and by changing the distance measure from miles to kilometers.

The global distribution system (GDS) is the first to give agents this functionality.  Earlier this year it pioneered total pricing for cars, incorporating all variable charges such as local taxes, fees, surcharges and drop-off charges. It also recently enabled travel agencies to make their negotiated and discounted rates for car hire available on the Sabre Virtually There?” online itinerary and travel-shopping tool.

“Today’s development is part of our ongoing drive to help Sabre Connected travel agents simplify the shopping and booking process,” said David Brown, Sabre’s director for the UK, Ireland and the Nordic region. “It is another way to help them differentiate their service by finding not only the lowest available car rental rate for their customers, but also the most convenient location.”
