Sabre Implements Frequent Flyer System for Air Malta

5th Dec 2002

Holdings Corporation and Air Malta announced the successful implementation of the Sabre Traverse loyalty management system. The Traverse frequent flyer program significantly enhances the airlines customer service efforts and reduces operating costs for its Air Malta`s FlyPass loyalty program.

Air Malta utilizes the Traverse system via the Sabre eMergo Web enabled and dedicated network solution. eMergo, Sabre`s ASP model, eliminates an airline`s need for costly and complicated in-house data center infrastructure and support. The implementation with Air Malta marks the first expansion of Sabre`s ASP delivery model into loyalty management.

“Air Malta has gained tremendous benefits from Sabre technologies,” said Brian Bartolo, director of loyalty management at Air Malta. “With the addition of the Traverse system, we will be able to provide FlyPass members with greater customer service than ever before. In addition, the Traverse system provides greater efficiency for our agents in terms of time required for processing member information and the ability to perform other duties. This type of automation is critical for Air Malta in our key international cities. Accessing these capabilities via the Web helps us better perform in today`s highly competitive airline industry.”

“Customer service is an increasingly important differentiating factor for airlines, and many airlines around the world consider their frequent flyer program to be their number one customer service priority,” said Steve Clampett

, president of Airline Solutions.

“Airlines want to arm themselves with as much functionality and information as they can. The Traverse system empowers airlines with the ability to expand their frequent flyer program through a stable ASP platform offering robust promotions and reliable activity tracking,” Clampett explained.

The Traverse system benefits airlines by providing the ability to:

- Create comprehensive promotional offers for new services and routes and to introduce new partners

- Directly target campaigns to travelers, maximizing the potential of promotions

- Track member activity and member response to promotions

- Recognize and reward their most loyal passengers

- Manage members using a leading-edge customer service tool based on proven technology and input from a broad airline base

The Traverse loyalty management system is complemented by Sabre`s partnership with Points International

, whose suite of loyalty management solutions solidifies Sabre`s loyalty offerings.
