helped differentiate Orbitz in the travel industry through the innovative use of technology. Orbitz` systems were designed from the ground up specifically for the Internet, enabling travelers to easily search billions of fare and flight options in seconds, including the web`s widest selection of discount web fares. Orbitz` use of commodity hardware provides better scalability and is more cost effective than the outdated mainframes used by other travel agents. Under Zoghlin`s leadership, Orbitz introduced Supplier Link technology this year and became the first travel website to connect directly to an airline`s internal host system to book tickets.

A team of top editors from InfoWorld and its CTO Advisory Council chose Zoghlin and the other honorees based on the following criteria: background, leadership, industry influence, technology innovation and involvement in the broader business community.

“The selection committee viewed each of the nominees as IT leaders within their sector, but also in the broader IT community,” said Eve Epstein, InfoWorld`s Executive Editor.

The December 9 issue of InfoWorld will profile Alex Zoghlin`s accomplishments.
