, a Sabre Company, the world`s leading provider of online travel reservation systems to airlines and corporations, today announced that it has extended its agreement with UAL Loyalty Services, Inc. to provide online booking services for United Airlines` Web site.
The major, multi-year contract continues the two companies` trend-setting work in online travel reservation services.
In 1997, working with GetThere, United launched online booking on united.com
, making it one of the first airline Web sites for booking travel online. Since that time, the companies have delivered a number of innovative online services for travelers, such as viewing and redemption of MileagePlus award miles, online redemption of e-certificates, and the promotion and reservation of special online E-Fares. Today, united.com provides travelers with a comprehensive set of options for managing virtually all aspects of their travel reservations online.
“Our focus has always been on providing United`s customers with the most comprehensive set of choices for managing their travel plans. Online booking is a core aspect of that strategy, and has also been a valuable way to reduce the cost of selling tickets. We are pleased to extend our relationship with GetThere, and look forward to continuing to maximize the value of online technology to United and to our customers,” said Pete Peterson, president of the Travel Distribution Division of UAL Loyalty Services.
“We believe our work with United is key in helping shape the future of the online travel industry,” said Jeff Palmer, president of GetThere. “We look forward to continuing our relationship, and also to launching new innovations that will continue to make www.united.com one of the most powerful online resources for travelers.”
