PlacesToStay.com

has launched Quick Getaways, an easy way for travelers to find and book vacations close to home.
Designed to plan weekend trips, the online lodging guide features bed & breakfasts, inns, resorts and hotels in vacation destinations within driving distance of major metro areas.
Quick Getaways offers interactive, full-color maps of 18 popular destinations. With links from major cities including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Washington, D.C. and Paris, Quick Getaways saves consumers time and money for weekend getaways or road trips.

Joint research conducted by PlacesToStay.com and BedandBreakfast.com indicates that consumers continue to vacation closer-to-home, citing a growth in family travel, the desire to rest and rejuvenate in a safe hospitable environment and a spike in one-gas-tank car trips.

“PlacesToStay.com is committed to providing the right travel guides and selections for the changing needs of our customers,” said Kurt Weinsheimer, vice president of marketing. “With Quick Getaways, travelers use maps to locate desired destinations then easily book accommodations. For example, travelers from San Francisco can easily plan a quick getaway to Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe or Carmel.”

The service will soon be available across the WorldRes network, including leading travel Web sites, AOL and Lycos.
