Web Reservations International
(WRI), has announced that its millionth hostel bed has been reserved online.
The millionth reservation was made by a US student booking a hostel bed in Barcelona as part of a four-week trip around Europe.
“Our millionth bed reservation is a significant milestone for hostelworld.com and the online travel sector in general,” said Tom Kennedy, president and co-founder of WRI. “We have taken the low-cost structure and universal availability of the Internet and created a web-based GDS system exclusively for budget, independent and youth travel. This great success is a testament to the power of hostelworld.com in the eyes of our customers and our web partners.”
hostelworld.com, WRI`s leading website, launched in May 1999 providing online reservation capabilities for five hostels in Europe. Today hostelworld.com
allows travelers to make reservations online in over 2000 hostels in 200 countries.
