, a leading provider of technology to the global travel industry, announced today it has signed an agreement with WEXAS International to supply its Internet booking engine, BookIt! CONSUMERå? for the WEXAS Web site, www.wexas.com
, and its `dynamic packaging` solution, BookIt! FARESå? - LAND, for WEXAS call centre operations.
WEXAS, a market leader in the provision of online and offline travel services, was nominated twice in 2002 for travel-industry awards: the e-Commerce Site of the Year at the annual UK Agency Achievement Awards 2002; and the Travel Weekly Innovation Award 2002.
BookIt! FARES - LAND will enable WEXAS call centre agents to create an itinerary or simple tour package from an ‘à la carte’ selection of travel components, which can be mixed and matched in a virtual shopping basket for quotation and booking. Agents can concentrate on dynamically building customised itineraries from air, hotel and car components to suit every type of customer requirement.
“The global travel industry is only now showing signs of recovery from the downturn that was exacerbated by the events of September 11th. Dynamic packaging or component based selling is a new concept that is complimenting agency business models which traditionally generated the bulk of their revenue from selling air segments,” said Aidan Brogan, VP Sales, EMEA, Datalex. “The deployment by WEXAS of BookIt! FARES - LAND and BookIt! CONSUMER embodies this changing marketplace and the changing needs and preferences of global travellers.”
The new technology will augment the existing BookIt! FARES - AIR solution, which enables WEXAS call centre agents to provide fast and accurate net fare quotations for their customers by automatically validating complex fare rules for round trip and multi sector itineraries. These net fare quotations, in addition to scheduled fares, will now be available for direct booking by customers on the WEXAS Web sites with the deployment of the Datalex BookIt! CONSUMER Internet booking engine.
“WEXAS has found BookIt! FARES - LAND to be a very successful sales tool, and we are delighted to be working with Datalex on further enhancements to our technology platform, which will enable us to stay at the forefront of travel service provision for our members, both online and offline,” said Simon Beeching, Managing Director, WEXAS International.
