David Taylor Joins Worldspan as Strategy Director

Global Distribution System (GDS) Worldspan is strengthening its market development capabilities with the appointment of former British Airways executive David Taylor as Director, Strategic Market Planning & Services, for Worldspan in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMEAA).

He will work closely with Graham Nichols, Worldspan vice president for EMEAA, and other senior managers across Europe and the USA to formulate and implement an EMEAA market strategy to increase Worldspan`s market share and profitability.

Mr Taylor will also be responsible for services provided by Worldspan`s Quality & Process and Solutions Groups, as well as overseeing the organisation`s Contracts and Market Planning function from an EMEA perspective.

He joins Worldspan, whose EMEAA headquarters are at Heathrow, from British Airways where he held a variety of roles. “David is well versed in delivering strategic market plans, significantly increasing customer revenue, developing new revenue streams, and researching new business opportunities, joint ventures and other business initiatives.  His extensive travel industry experience and background will be invaluable as we optimise sales, market opportunities and profitability, as well as technical and services support that can help achieve our challenging business objectives.”

Mr Taylor added:

“Worldspan is the youngest GDS yet has expanded significantly over the past few years, particularly in the area of travel e-commerce where it is a global leader. Worldspan has clear growth ambitions, an expanding portfolio of products and solutions that are demanded by travel distributors and suppliers.  And with a clear vision of how technology can help the travel industry deal with a fast-changing world, Worldspan is going places -which is a very attractive proposition for me.”
