The deal will enable Fred. Olsen Travel to check availability and make bookings in real-time with over 250 UK operators and other travel providers, all at the click of a mouse.
Under the agreement, X-TANT will provide a network solution for Fred. Olsen Travel`s branches in Colchester, Bury St. Edmunds, Felixstowe and Ipswich, together with sub-brands Fred. Olsen Business Travel, Australian specialist Discover Down Under, Cruise Network and Fred. Olsen Travel Direct.
The retail chain will use Traveleye in place of traditional viewdata technology to provide its agents with a faster and more efficient booking solution. Over 35 desktops across the Fred. Olsen Travel sites will feature Traveleye.
X-TANT, a division of NTL Business, launched Traveleye two years ago. The company provides the industry`s leading reservations network, accounting for 65% of bookings made electronically by agents across the UK, and with Traveleye claims to have created the industry`s fastest integrated sales system for agents, enabling them to sell holidays more quickly than any other solution.
Fred. Olsen Travel also becomes the latest agency group to gain access to the commissionable web bookings that companies including Hertz, Superbreak, Gold Medal, Holiday Autos and BCP are offering through Traveleye.
Fred. Olsen Travel marketing and development manager Sharon Harris said: “By taking Traveleye, we will enjoy a more flexible access to operators, and so deliver a faster, more effective service to customers than ever before. This is a considerable investment, but one that we feel is central to increased profitability and ensuring we maintain high levels of service.”
X-TANT travel marketing manager Howard Tinker added “Fred. Olsen Travel is a well-known and established brand that is using the latest technology to drive its business forward. We`re delighted to welcome them on board.
“Traveleye has made significant inroads into the travel trade since its launch two years ago, offering operators and agents a complete online distribution strategy.”
