, a leading regional independent agent, has become the latest UK company to offer consumers online, real-time package holiday availability, using a solution developed by the UK`s leading agency software provider Comtec
Gateshead-based Hoppaway, which last year generated turnover in excess of £25m, has taken Comtec`s Travel Agent`s White Label solution to enable its online customers to search and select live holidays from 40 of the UK`s leading operators.
Hoppaway is the latest agency to sign to Travel Agent`s White Label since its launch last year. Other companies harnessing the solution include Epremiertravel.com, Latebookers and Magic Breaks.
Hoppaway has used Comtec`s leading TravelCat in-house agency management system for four years and was keen to enhance its service to holidaymakers through an e-commerce development.
Comtec`s Travel Agent`s White Label solution - which is powered by software pioneered by Comtec`s commercial partner DTS (Digital Travel Services) - provides consumers with direct access to tour operators` reservations systems through agency websites, with agents earning commission on every booking.
Here bookings will be handled by any one of Hoppaway`s three call centres, with normal transaction times substantially reduced because consumers have already chosen their holiday and need only complete their purchase.
In addition, Hoppaway has contracted Comtec to centrally handle its data upgrades through Comtec`s at head office in Cwmbran, speeding up the time it takes for information to be refreshed and so improving productivity.
Hoppaway Travel managing director Jane Atkinson said: “These enhancements help improve our agency productivity by allowing customers to search for holidays themselves.
“We want to bring down transaction times of our sales staff to improve productivity. Booking times average 20 minutes at the moment and even if it comes down by five minutes, which we expect, this is a breakthrough of massive significance for us or any agency.”
Said Comtec`s group director Richard Turner: “This deal with Hoppaway confirms our ability to help agents turn the web into a valuable revenue stream. Furthermore, it highlights our commitment to developing technology that enables agents to win a competitive edge on the high street, in the call centre and online.”
