Galileo Signs New Contract With Business Travel Management

Galileo International
, a leading
provider of electronic global distribution solutions for the travel industry,
has announced that it has re-signed its contract with Business Travel
Management (BTM) for another three years.
BTM, wholly owned by MyTravel Group plc
, will, as part of the new
contract, upgrade all its 20 offices across the UK to Galileo`s primary
technology solution, Focalpoint(R) 3.5. Focalpoint 3.5 provides full TCP/IP
(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) connectivity.  This
ready-to-go reservation, business management and support system combines the
power of the Galileo(R) system with timesaving productivity enhancements,
allowing customers to maximise productivity and efficiency.
Adam White, managing director of BTM and Chairman of GBTA Technology
Working Party, said: “Following a comprehensive review of our distribution
requirements, BTM firmly believes that Galileo continues to offer the most
reliable and comprehensive range of innovative solutions and dedicated support
in the UK market.”
“Galileo has been providing highly effective automation to BTM for four
years.  By upgrading our offices to Focalpoint 3.5 it will enable BTM to
provide the best service possible to its customers.”
Additionally, BTM will be a pilot customer in the UK for Galileo
subsidiary Shepherd Systems
` AgentFlash solution.  AgentFlash is an on-line
system that provides travel agents with access to the specific market
intelligence needed to steer their business and meet financial goals.
AgentFlash uses booking data extracted from the Galileo system and thus opens
up the opportunity for travel agencies to manage their own performance in line
with that of the airlines.
“We are truly excited to extend our relationship with BTM.  Together, we
share a compelling vision for the role that technology will play in helping
business travellers manage their travel in the future.  We look forward to
working with BTM to bring that vision to reality,” said Pat Minogue, general
manager Galileo UK.
