The seventh edition of the International Travel Trade Fair å“Otdykh-Leisureå” will take place at the Olympic Sports Complex å“SC Olympiiskyå” in Moscow from 17 - 20 October 2001 - with the first two days being reserved for trade visitors only. Otdykh-Leisure is organized by MSI Vertriebs GmbH Vienna and is an official event of the Russian Ministry for Economic Development and Trade and the Moscow City Government. 

Otdykh-Leisure is the main international autumn fair held in Russia and the CIS. It marks the beginning of the winter season on the Russian travel market, with October being the ideal time to launch winter programs and prepare for the next summer season. The show focuses on winter leisure, city and sightseeing trips, winter-sun destinations as well as the growing business and incentive sector. The event serves mainly the outbound but also the inbound market. It comprises the full range of travel products and services, including national and regional tourist boards, hotels, airlines, tour operators and tourist attractions, representing international and Russian companies. 

This year’s show will break last year’s amazing record of 570 exhibitors from 47 countries, 44,110 trade visitors and almost 11,000 private visitors. The upward trend of the Russian travel market continues with increasing numbers of Russian buyers and international companies participating in Otdykh-Leisure. The show provides the perfect platform to meet the major Russian buyers from Moscow and the other regions or Russia and the CIS, to meet new partners, establish business contacts, promote one’s presence on one of the fastest growing tourism markets, and to sign contracts with Russian partners and access a market of more than 12 million outbound travellers per year. 

This year Oman and Peru will be first-time exhibitors, Brazil will for the first time participate with its National Tourist Board Embratur. Winter programs will again be presented by Andorra, Austria, Finland, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland. Winter, summer and sightseeing programs by companies and tourist associations from Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Hungary, Israel, Malta, Romania, Spain, Tatarstan. The winter-sun and exotic destination sector keeps growing with companies from Latin America and the Caribbean, the official tourist boards from the Arab Emirates: Abu-Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah and Asia: India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Singapore and Thailand. South Africa and East Africa with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, will again present big game safaris and beach holidays.
