Expedia.com Awarded as “Best Overall Travel Site”

continues its travel industry leadership with its recognition from Yahoo!
Internet Life magazine, which awarded Expedia.com(R) as “Best Overall Travel
Site,” as well as MIT`s Technology Review magazine which named Expedia(R)
president and CEO, Richard Barton as one of the world`s 100 top young
The honors praise Expedia for providing consumers with a breadth
of travel services and superior technology.
  In the June 2002 issue of Yahoo! Internet Life, Expedia was named a “Gold
Star Site” and the “Best Overall Travel Site.” Expedia won the top prize
beating competitive sites due to features such as custom-built trips, which
meet the individual needs of the consumer, as well as its online and e-mail
customer alerts which provide customers with information about airline and
weather status which may impact travels. “Expedia`s tools and tabs
consistently work the way they`re intended, inspiring consumer confidence.
This year, the site introduced the Web`s most flexible build-your-own vacation

Additionally, Expedia president and CEO, Richard Barton
, is named one of
the world`s 100 Top Young Innovators in the June 2002 issue of MIT`s
Technology Review. Chosen annually, the TR100 awards consists of
100 individuals whose innovative work in business and technology has a
profound impact on today`s world.  Barton is recognized for his vision and
leadership, and for helping drive a technology-led revolution in the travel
