Cendant said Trip.com, the company`s recently re-launched leisure travel Web site, will start selling time-share vacation packages sometime this summer.
already allows consumers to purchase vacation rentals on its Web site, but Cendant said its plan is to launch a “packaging engine” that would enable travelers to search for and book packages with airline, rental car and time-share components.
“We don`t believe competitors will have this capability,” said Sam Galeotos, chairman of the board of Trip Network, Cendant`s affiliate consisting of brands Trip.com and CheapTickets.
Galeotos said Trip.com will be able to offer inexpensive package deals to consumers by selling brands owned by Cendant—Resort Condominiums International (RCI) and Avis
