“Road Warriors”—those people who log millions of air miles a year—
rank American Airlines as the best airline and the airline they prefer to
fly, according to a new national poll from Decision Analyst, Inc.
Of the consumers who fly at least once or more a month, 22 percent ranked
American their first choice if all airlines offered the same direct
flights at the same price.
“We`re pleased but not surprised,” said American spokeswoman Andrea Rader.
“Our people know and understand business travelers better than anyone, and
we offer them what they need: lots of flights to lots of places,
convenience at the airport, the world`s largest and richest frequent flyer
program, Admirals Clubs, and great service from great employees.”
Survey respondents were members of the American Consumer Opinion(R) online
panel, one of the largest consumer panels in the world, which includes
over 3.5 million consumers. Respondents defined prior experience with the
airline and known quality as two of the top three determining factors when
choosing an airline ticket.
“What`s interesting is that the type of service offered by the low-cost
airline—or, at least, by Southwest—is just not as appealing to the
frequent, typically business, traveler as is the `traditional` airline
model,” says Bruce Crandall, vice president of Decision Analyst, Inc.
According to Decision Analyst, Inc., the results of the survey are based
on a nationally represented survey conducted online among 5,184 consumers
who travel by air at least once a year, which was referenced with Census
Bureau data for gender, age, geography, marital status, presence of
children, and income. The study`s margin of error is plus or minus one
percent. The survey was open to adult consumers in the United States.
