Malaysia Airlines Participation in OIC 2003

Malaysia Airlines has been appointed the official airline for the 10th Session of the Organisation of the Islamic Summit Conference (OIC) and associated meetings that will be held in the federal administrative capital, Putrajaya from 11 - 18 October 2003.


To ensure the success of its involvement in this international event, Malaysia Airlines has mobilized around 350 dedicated staff to handle the air travel requirements of delegates, invited guests, media and observers for the OIC Summit.


As one of the two appointed ground-handling companies in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for this event, Malaysia Airlines has rostered its staff on 24-hour basis at KLIA to ensure smooth arrival and departures of dignitaries, delegates and observers to the OIC summit on both commercial flights and private aircraft.


Malaysia Airlines staff, together with representatives from the Prime Minister`s Department and Malaysia Airports Berhad, will monitor and co-ordinate these arrangements from the OIC operations secretariat in KLIA. In addition, Malaysia Airlines will activate a 24-hour ramp operations centre to complement the KLIA operations secretariat.


Malaysia Airlines will participate in the Expo OIC 2003 at the International Hall, Putrajaya Convention Centre to showcase its corporate presence, destinations, products and services.

The airline has also commenced Ticketing and Reservations service at the Putrajaya Convention Centre effective yesterday and will provide similar service at the Expo OIC 2003 effective 12 October 2003. These counters will operate till 18 October 2003.


Malaysia Airlines has always been the nation`s `flying ambassador` as official airline for international events in Malaysia. This year it was the official airline for two such events, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in February 2003 and the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2003 from 30 September - 5 October 2003.
