Swiss Drops Washington Flights

19th Sep 2003

Switzerland`s national airline, Swiss, is to drop the air link between the country`s financial center Zurich and the US capital Washington.
Swiss will no longer operate flights to Washington DC when its winter timetable comes into effect on October 26.

The financially struggling carrier said that, despite its best efforts, it had not been able to find a partner for the Zurich-Washington route.

Swiss said it will still serve all major business destinations throughout the world and in North America the airline will continue to fly to New York, Chicago, Boston, Miami, Los Angles and Montreal in Canada.

Plans to drop the Saudi Arabian capital Jeddah from its winter schedule have now been reversed and Swiss intends to fly three times a week to Jeddah via the port city of Ryadh.
