Malaysia Sign Promotion Understanding

Malaysia Airlines and the Penang Tourism Action Council today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the carrier`s London-Penang non-stop service due to commence on 21 October 2003.

The twice-weekly service, departing London every Tuesday and Saturday, will be operated on B747-400 aircraft, providing an additional capacity of 772 seats per week into Penang from London.

Today`s MoU signing in Penang was witnessed by YAB Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon, Chief Minister of Penang. Managing Director Dato` Mohd Nor Yusof signed for Malaysia Airlines while Penang Tourism Action Council was represented by Chairman Dato` Kee Phaik Cheen.

Under the MoU, both parties will jointly promote the new London-Penang non-stop service. Besides reinforcing Penang as a premier holiday destination among UK and European travelers, it will also be marketed as a popular incentive and convention city.

Malaysia Airlines` B747-400 currently operates 18 flights weekly from Kuala Lumpur to London.
