America West Adds New Service

America West Airlines` (NYSE: AWA) business-friendly fare structure is creating so much customer demand in its Las Vegas hub that it is adding new service to St. Louis; Billings, Mont.; and Des Moines, Iowa on Oct. 26, Nov. 26 and Dec. 19, respectively. America West will also add a third daily, nonstop roundtrip flight between its Phoenix hub and St. Louis on Oct. 26.

“We are responding to significant demand and are thrilled to be expanding our Las Vegas hub,” said Dion Flannery, vice president, scheduling, route planning and Internet distribution. “Customers in these three cities can now enjoy nonstop service to one of the most popular destinations in the country and benefit from the convenience of connecting to many other great America West destinations.”

This new service gives business travelers even more opportunity to take advantage of America West`s business-friendly fares that eliminate the Saturday night stay requirement and include fares up to 70 percent lower than most other major airlines. Customers will be able to connect through Las Vegas and Phoenix to more than 50 destinations across the western U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Flights to and from St. Louis will utilize the 737-300, featuring seating for eight in first class and 126 in the main cabin. Flights to and from Billings, Mont., will be provided by America West Express, and operated by a subsidiary airline of Mesa Air Group utilizing the popular 50-seat Canadair Regional Jet.

Flights to and from Des Moines, Iowa, will be provided by America West Express and operated by a subsidiary airline of Mesa Air Group utilizing the new 80-seat Canadair Regional Jet, which features first class seating for six. With this new service, America West will serve more than 40 destinations from its Las Vegas hub with 92 daily departures.
